Typhoon Dolphin is heading towards eastern China after hitting southern Japan, where at least six people were injured. The storm is crossing the East China Sea and is expected to make landfall along China’s east coast late Sunday into Monday, with heavy and persistent rainfall posing a major threat. Forecasts suggest 200 to 400mm of rain could fall across a wide area, with isolated totals approaching 600mm, increasing the risk of flash floods and landslides. Authorities have activated emergency flood responses across eastern China. Schools have closed in parts of Zhejiang, ports have suspended operations, ferry services have stopped and hundreds of vessels have been ordered back to harbour. Al Jazeera’s Everton Fox reports.
