Saudi Arabia, Türkiye and Pakistan have signed a joint defence agreement, pledging to treat an armed attack against any one of them as an attack against all three. The deal was signed by Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, and has provoked an angry response from Iran. Türkiye has NATO's second-largest military, while Pakistan is a nuclear-armed state and Saudi Arabia is one of the world's biggest oil exporters. It comes amid heightened regional tensions following the outbreak of the US-Israel war with Iran, which has seen Saudi Arabia and other Gulf states targeted by Iran and its proxies.
