European leaders have given mixed reactions to the Ceuta migration crisis, which saw roughly 70,000 people rush across the border into Spain's North African exclave across 30 July and 31 July. Spain says the vast majority of those who crossed the border from Morocco have since been returned and none have made it to mainland Europe. In the initial aftermath, several EU members expressed concern and criticism, with Italy going so far as to suspend free travel arrangements with Spain.
