Excavations at Pattinamarudur in Tamil Nadu’s Thoothukudi district have uncovered evidence of a large ancient conch-shell industry, offering fresh clues about the region’s craft traditions and maritime trade. Archaeologists have found engraved conch shells, shell bangles and beads, large deposits of discarded shells, Chinese celadon ware and coins linked to the Pandya and Vijayanagara periods. The site, spread across about 200 acres, is being studied for evidence of its role as a major centre of shell craft and maritime commerce. #Pattinamarudur #Thoothukudi #TamilNadu #Archaeology #Excavation #ConchCraft #AncientTrade #MaritimeTrade #TamilHistory #Heritage Thank you for watching our video!
