Some small business owners in Ottawa are closing up shop at the ByWard Market’s Vendor Village after struggling with low foot traffic and ongoing construction. CTV's Natalie van Rooy speaks with Form and Flora Designs owner Rahimullah Samandar, who says low sales have left him unable to support his family after moving into the shipping container hub in May. Vendor Farnoosh Fahim notes that lack of public awareness about the location severely limited customer visits despite promotional efforts by the ByWard Market District Authority. Ottawa councillor Stéphanie Plante acknowledged the vendor departures as the project continues through October as part of the city's 200th anniversary celebrations.
