Ask Eric Sim who his Basic Military Training (BMT) buddy was and he might hesitate before answering. Not because he can't remember, but because that buddy was Health Minister Ong Ye Kung. The two lost touch after Basic Military Training nearly 40 years ago. Eric had no idea his old buddy was waiting to surprise him. Together, they reminisced about their time as recruits, from sharing a bunk to attempting a few pull-ups.
