Aussies are paying more at the pump, while some of the world’s biggest oil companies are making billions from higher oil prices. Of course, that is how commodity markets work. When supply is disrupted and prices rise, producers can benefit. But it raises a bigger question. When global crises create enormous windfall profits while households are being told to tighten their belts, who should carry the cost?
