Veterans, current military personnel, and RCMP members gathered to mark National Peacekeepers' Day on Aug. 9, honouring decades of international peace support missions and those who died in service. CTV's Josh Marano reports that veteran Samson Young, who retired in May after more than 35 years of service, including a 2013 deployment to the Democratic Republic of the Congo, reflected on the sacrifices made by peacekeepers overseas; the Ministry of Transportation has launched a design study and environmental assessment to evaluate safety measures on Highway 138 between Highway 417 and Highway 401.
