Ian Collins speaks to senior Conservative frontbencher Alex Burghart as Labour prepares to introduce changes allowing eligible prisoners to leave custody after serving a smaller proportion of their sentences. Burghart brands the plans a “total mess” and warns that “clearly very dangerous people” could be released into the public. He calls on the Government to rent prison places overseas, accelerate construction and deport more foreign national offenders. Burghart also argues that Britain should leave the European Convention on Human Rights to strengthen its ability to remove foreign criminals. #news #politics #crimenews Have you got a story?
