The Equality and Human Rights Commission’s updated statutory Code of Practice for services, public functions and associations came into force across England, Scotland and Wales on 5 August. It reflects the Supreme Court’s 2025 ruling that the terms man, woman and sex in the Equality Act 2010 refer to biological sex, and explains how organisations should approach separate-sex, single-sex and mixed-sex services. Six London councils have signalled resistance to the code, while Greater Manchester Mayor Bev Craig has said facilities under her control will remain legally compliant. Julia Hartley-Brewer speaks with Sex Matters Director of Campaigns Fiona McAnena. #news #transgender #law #lgbt Have you got a story?
