Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Sunday rejected a US-led Gaza plan endorsed by Hamas, saying Israel’s military “will not carry out any withdrawal until Hamas is genuinely disarmed.” Veteran Palestinian politician Mustafa Barghouti tells DW that this was to be expected. Dr. Barghouti is a Palestinian physician, human rights advocate, and independent former presidential candidate who has championed non-violent resistance as the primary strategy to end Israel’s occupation of Palestinian territories.
