Amber heat health alerts covering the vast majority of England are set to come into force on Tuesday morning as the UK braces for the fifth heatwave of the year. Nearly three-quarters of England are in drought, with warnings of increased pressure on agriculture, public supplies, navigation, and the environment. From 9am on Tuesday, heat health alerts issued by the UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA) are in place across England until 9pm on Friday. Amber heat health alerts have been issued for most of England including the Midlands, South East, North West and South West. This means significant impacts, including impact on the workforce, demand for power exceeding capacity and a rise in deaths among over-65s, are considered "likely".
