A record 230 people were reported to have arrived at Dover after crossing the English Channel from France in a single small boat, surpassing the previous vessel record of 165 set last month. The dinghy reached the UK during the early hours of 10 August. The provisional number of small-boat arrivals in 2026 now stands at 14,819, which is 43% lower than at the same point last year.
