Author and energy policy commentator Rupert Darwall has urged the Government to approve the Jackdaw gas field and Rosebank oil field, arguing that domestic production would strengthen Britain’s energy security while supporting jobs and tax revenues. Speaking to David Bull, the author of Green Tyranny criticised Britain’s reliance on imported energy and claimed the pursuit of “climate leadership” had delivered high costs without persuading the rest of the world to follow. He also warned that ageing gas-fired power stations, growing electricity demand and constraints on the grid could threaten the reliability of Britain’s energy supply. Darwall said: “We have really trashed our ability to keep the lights on.” Have you got a story?
