The News Agents’ Jon Sopel joins Shelagh Fogarty to discuss the latest row engulfing Reform UK after comments from the party’s home affairs spokesman, Zia Yusuf, about former Defence Secretary Ben Wallace. Reform UK leader Nigel Farage has said Yusuf went “over the top” in his criticism of Wallace, a former soldier who served in Northern Ireland. The row erupted after Wallace criticised Reform’s new proposal to deport all foreign nationals held in British prisons to countries including El Salvador. Responding on X, Yusuf described Wallace as a “moron” and questioned how he had ever been Defence Secretary, saying Reform’s policy was a direct response to the previous government’s failures. Jon and Shelagh also discuss Reform’s performance in the polls and whether the party is trying to import American-style politics into Britain.
