France Bans Cold Calls With Fines Up to $435K Per Violation

Lawmakers in France have passed a new law that bans unsolicited marketing calls. Instead of opting out to avoid those unwanted calls, consumers can only receive a call from companies if they opt in. Violators will be fined the equivalent of $435,000 per call. Meanwhile, lawmakers in the United States are also looking to tackle the issue with numerous bills in the works.
