Spiked editor Tom Slater has described the arrival of a reported 49-foot dinghy carrying 230 migrants as a symbol of “catastrophic failure”. Joining Julia Hartley-Brewer, Tom argued that disrupting smuggling gangs would not end Channel crossings unless the Government removed the incentive for people to enter Britain illegally. The pair also discussed plans to release prisoners early, pressure to keep PC Andrew Harper’s killers behind bars and reported concerns surrounding Nigel Farage’s security. Tom said: “If you don’t remove the incentives for the business model, then the trade is going to continue.” Have you got a story?
