Noah Yap disguised himself as a makeup artist to surprise his army ma’am, Yang Hai Yan, 10 years after his release from detention barracks. The two first met during Noah’s National Service at the Singapore Armed Forces Music and Drama Company, where Hai Yan was an artistic manager. When Noah was later sentenced to nine months in detention barracks for drug consumption, she continued to visit him and provided emotional support to his family. When Noah was released, Hai Yan gave him an ang bao bearing the words: “This will never happen again.” At their reunion 10 years later, Noah gave her an ang bao of his own, along with a note thanking her for always being there for him.
