Operation Shorthand represents the largest coordinated strike against illicit tobacco trade in Australia, with hundreds of officers raiding service stations across five states and the ACT. Metro Petroleum, Australia's biggest independent service station network, was the primary target of these raids, resulting in at least nine outlets being shut down. The operation was led by the National Disruption Group on Illegal Tobacco, comprising Australian Border Force, Federal Police, Criminal Intelligence Commission and state and territory police partners.
