Prime Minister Andy Burnham insists he is "increasingly confident" he will be able to stop PC Andrew Harper's killers being released from prison early, despite saying last week the men would be eligible for the early release scheme. "I've heard the depth of concern across the country about the potential release of the killers of Andrew Harper," Burnham told broadcasters on Tuesday. Despite claims the government has u-turned on the issue after increasing pressure, the PM said "nothing has changed", and he has "never accepted that there is nothing more that can be done." In a post on social media on Tuesday, the PM said he has been "pushing for further progress" on the early release plans.
