For years, control can feel like the key to success: controlling how others perceive us, how our lives unfold, and whether we achieve everything we set out to accomplish. But the more we try to control the world around us, the more power we give away. Through personal experiences, lessons from The Let Them Theory, music, and the idea that responsibility creates power, this speech explores the difference between controlling our circumstances and taking responsibility for ourselves. By letting others be who they are and focusing our energy on what we can actually change, we can reclaim our time, our choices, and ultimately our joy. Anna Jain is an 11th grader at Northwest High School who has been doing public speaking for more than 3 years. She enjoys learning about self help and incorporating those ideas into her own life and influencing people in her life to do the same. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community
