Millions of people across Europe are set to experience a total solar eclipse later on Wednesday at 15:34 GMT. A partial eclipse will also be visible to skywatchers in North America and North Africa. Depending on the weather, about one in eight people around the world may be able to catch a glimpse of the celestial phenomenon. Here’s astronomer Jake Foster of the Royal Greenwich Observatory explaining the cosmic clockwork that makes the eclipse possible.
