Machakos Assembly approves 50% of proposed KSh.17.8 billion budget amid standoff

The Machakos County Assembly has authorized the withdrawal of 50 percent, of the county’s proposed KSh.17.8 billion budget, for the 2026/27 financial year, as a standoff over the full budget continues. The allocation is expected to support salaries and essential services, even as MCAs and Governor Wavinya Ndeti trade accusations over pending bills, development priorities and changes made to the budget proposals.
