Nigel Farage is expected to secure a landslide victory in the Clacton by-election after Labour, the Conservatives, Liberal Democrats and Greens refused to field candidates. Independent statistician Jamie Jenkins says the boycott amounts to “two fingers up” to voters who would ordinarily support those parties. Dr David Bull argues that a huge Farage majority could embolden the Reform UK leader and strengthen his ambition to sweep Essex, Kent, the Midlands and the North at the next general election. A record 34 candidates are standing in Clacton, including Count Binface, Laurence Fox and SDP leader William Clouston.
