ISTANBUL — A Turkish Air Force F-16 fighter jet crashed during a training flight in the northwestern province of Yalova on Wednesday, exploding into a fireball on impact, with the pilot ejecting safely and surviving, the Defense Ministry said.The aircraft came down around 3 p.m. local time near the 18th Main Base Command in the Çiftlikköy district. Video footage captured by security cameras and witnesses showed the jet flying low before crashing into a field, followed by a plume of black smoke and a fireball.The pilot parachuted to safety, was recovered unharmed, and taken to Yalova Training and Research Hospital in good condition. No casualties were reported on the ground among civilian or military personnel. Emergency teams, including AFAD disaster response units, fire services, and medical crews, were dispatched to the scene.The ministry confirmed an investigation is underway to determine the cause of the accident.
