Thousands of people around the world have witnessed the best solar eclipse in almost thirty years - with some even catching a glimpse of a rare total eclipse. More than 90% of the sun was obscured by the moon on Wednesday evening between 6.17pm and 8.06pm, the most it has been blocked in the UK since the 1999 total eclipse. The phenomenon began in Siberia, Russia, before becoming visible in Norway, Alaska, Greenland and western Europe. ITV News looks at how it unfolded across the globe. Also on the programme: • Simon Levy has been handed a rare whole life order at the Old Bailey for the murder of two women and the violent rape of a third. • Andy Burnham has urged all retailers to withdraw disposable barbecues from sale in an effort to prevent wildfires as the heatwave continues. -------------------------------------- For more of the biggest news stories in the UK and around the world, visit the ITV News YouTube channel: http://bit.ly/2lOHmNj   • Subscribe to ITV News In Full o
