Net Zero Watch campaign director Maurice Cousins has accused Westminster politicians of failing to confront the economic consequences of Britain’s energy policies. Speaking to Kevin O’Sullivan, Cousins acknowledged the risks posed by unusually hot weather but questioned whether extreme temperatures were being used to justify going “further and faster” towards net zero. He argued that the Government should prioritise practical measures such as reservoirs, air conditioning and climate-resilient crops rather than relying principally on further decarbonisation.
