Sudan’s war: What we saw inside El Obeid, the city at the heart of the conflict

The war in Sudan has entered its fourth year with no signs of abating. The Sudanese Armed Forces - supported by Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Turkey, Iran and Qatar are locked in a brutal and costly conflict with the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces, who are backed by the United Arab Emirates - claims the UAE denies. Hundreds of thousands are believed to have been killed, with the real death toll unknown. The state of North Kordofan is considered the most important frontline in a multi-front war.
