Dr. Debra Houry, Former Deputy Director for Program & Science at the CDC, discusses the ongoing cyclospora outbreak amid conflicting messages from health authorities. While the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) declared the outbreak contained and stated that salad is safe to eat, CDC data through August 11 shows a 33% increase in confirmed cases, with nearly 14,000 reported and an additional 10,000 cases still under investigation. Dr. Houry explains that reporting of cyclospora cases to the CDC is no longer mandatory, leading to discrepancies between state and federal data, as states may include suspected but unconfirmed cases. She speaks with Romaine Bostick on "The Close." -------- More on Bloomberg Television and Markets Like this video?
