### **Using Social Media in a Positive Way** **Mr Heng Chee Kuan (Uncle Potato)** Social media is often criticised for encouraging comparison, conflict and negativity. But what if the same platforms could be used to connect people, mobilise kindness and provide practical help to those who need it most? Heng Chee Kuan, affectionately known as **“Uncle Potato,”** believes that you do not need to be rich to make a meaningful difference. A florist turned community advocate and charity giver, he has used social media to bring together ordinary people who are willing to contribute their time, skills, resources and compassion to help others. Through this network of goodwill, Heng provides free or affordable ambulance services for poor and bedridden patients who need transportation to hospitals, free accommodation for financially disadvantaged patients travelling from out of town, and a free call service offering a listening ear to people experiencing emotional distress or suicidal thought
