Thursday’s amber extreme heat warning from the Met Office covered a huge area of central England, stretching from London to Sheffield. The temperature at Kew reached 38.1 degrees Celsius, making it the hottest day of the year so far. The Royal College of Nursing has warned that hospitals and care homes are getting so hot, they aren't just causing difficulties for patients, and even some of the nursing staff are passing out while on shift.
