Russia’s Federal Security Service (FSB) says it has detained a 55-year-old resident of Crimea’s Bakhchysarai District who allegedly established contact with Ukraine’s Security Service (SBU) and passed information about Russian military units, equipment and air-defence systems on the peninsula. The FSB also alleges that the suspect received instructions to prepare sabotage at railway facilities and monitor a vehicle belonging to a Russian Defence Ministry serviceman in Sevastopol. Russian authorities say the alleged operations were not carried out before the arrest. A criminal case has been opened under Article 275 of Russia’s Criminal Code, which covers high treason, and a court has ordered the suspect into pre-trial detention.
