Jocelyn explores how modern pressures have taught teenagers to equate their self-worth with pure achievement, resulting in a lost sense of identity. Jocelyn Gou is a freshman at BASIS Independent Silicon Valley, who finds herself in the weight and uncertainty of adolescence. When she isn’t lost in existential questions, Jocelyn can be found reading short stories, novels, or the occasional psychology book; pouring the undercurrent of her thoughts and emotions into the comfort of creating short stories or free-verse poems; or MBTI personality typing and psychoanalyzing fictional characters. Despite everything, Jocelyn chooses to look into the future with hope. She is passionate about climate activism, mental health awareness, feminism, challenging objectification, and taking 0.5 photos of her sister’s forehead. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at https://www.ted.com/tedx
