Rainbow explores the importance of looking past the first impression when it comes down to conversations, and how that can shape our connections with those around us. Rainbow Lee is an 8th-grade student at BASIS Independent Silicon Valley who has been fascinated with biology, international relations, and meeting people across the globe. A two-time World Scholar's Cup Global Round competitor, she has represented the United States on an international stage alongside students from over 20 different countries — an experience that fundamentally shaped how she views disagreements. Outside of competition, she enjoys working with scholars globally to create resources for others, creative writing, and community advocacy. As her time in middle school comes to an end, she is eager to expand her knowledge and skills past one global community, into many others. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at https:/
