Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky is struggling to find a new ambassador to Washington after dismissing Olga Stefanishyna, with potential candidates reportedly wary of the demands of working with US President Donald Trump’s administration, Politico reported, according to RBC-Ukraine. Zelensky had initially offered the post to former Prime Minister Yulia Svirydenko, who declined, while the president has said he wants a highly qualified candidate with senior government experience. Former Ukrainian Deputy Prime Minister Ivanna Klympush-Tsintsadze said there were people interested in the role but that finding someone who met Zelensky’s requirements was proving difficult. The vacancy comes as Washington remains central to decisions on weapons, air defence, intelligence and possible Russia-Ukraine peace negotiations.
