'We're very much still in the thick of it,' fire chief warns after 43 blazes in 24 hours

We've been speaking to the chair of the National Fire Chiefs' Council this morning in the wake of a record-breaking summer for wildfires in the country. Phil Garrigan said that there have been 43 wildfires over the past 24 hours, "so we're very much still in the thick of it, very much still on the front line of climate change". He adds that there's been three major incidents - in Wales, Hampshire, and Stourbridge - and that the UK is still "in kind of high speed conditions" as it remains warm and dry.
