Nigel Farage has comfortably won the Clacton by-election, defeating comedy candidate Count Binface in a contest largely boycotted by the major Westminster parties. Mr Farage secured 22,239 votes - around 63% - while Binface finished second with 9,455. The by-election was triggered after Mr Farage resigned his seat amid an investigation into an undeclared £5 million donation from a cryptocurrency billionaire. The investigation has now resumed following his victory. The result gives him a sizeable majority but does not end the controversy surrounding the financial investigation.
