Andy Burnham’s plan to accommodate more asylum seekers in affluent and rural areas could provoke organised resistance across Britain, the Centre for Migration Control has warned. Speaking to David Bull, research director Robert Bates argued that the policy would draw communities previously on the sidelines into the immigration debate. He predicted legal and political challenges from Reform UK, Conservative and even some Labour-led councils, particularly over the conversion of family homes into houses in multiple occupation. Robert said: “He’s going to be facing mini uprisings all across the country.” Have you got a story?
