Nigeria has accused South Africa of failing to protect legally documented Nigerians targeted in xenophobic attacks, while Ghana has raised concerns with the African Union over violence against its citizens and damage to Ghanaian-owned businesses. Mozambique has also demanded action after attacks on Mozambican nationals. At the heart of the crisis is a much bigger question about African migration, free movement and Pan-African unity.
