Vote counting in Zambia's general elections was suspended on Friday, then restarted hours later after the electoral commission said the security threat to the process had been contained. Election observer missions monitoring the vote have responded. The head of the SADC Electoral Observation Mission, Samuel Tembenu, said the mission was not in a position to observe the counting and collation of results during the suspension, and urged all contestants and stakeholders to remain calm. EU observers are also concerned, calling the disruption a disproportionate response and saying it is for Zambian authorities to explain their decision. Al Jazeera's Haru Mutasa reports.
