A record-breaking 500 millimetres of rain has made this Ottawa's wettest summer, creating severe challenges for the region's agricultural sector. CTV's Josh Marano speaks with Markus Ticknovich of Pax Tibi Farmstead, who says excess moisture has caused a 25 per cent crop loss to fusarium mold in some garlic varieties. At the Westboro Farmers' Market, Joseph Harrel of Ferme du Beau Temps notes that fruiting vegetables like tomatoes and peppers are thriving compared to last year's drought conditions. Other growers like Celina Montigny of Garlic Goods have adapted by harvesting crops weeks earlier to stay ahead of the saturated fields.
