The state department for micro, small and medium enterprises acknowledges that access to credit remains the biggest challenge facing small traders. noting that the country's micro, small and medium enterprises face a financing gap of up to 2 trillion shillings, msme principal secretary Susan Mang'eni, urged microfinance institutions to help the sector overcome barriers by easing collateral requirements especially to young people, women and other under-served sectors.
