A Russian attack on Kyiv overnight into Sunday sparked fires, damaged buildings and injured at least two people, Ukraine’s State Emergency Service said. One of the city’s largest and oldest book markets was heavily damaged, with shops and thousands of books destroyed by fire across an area of about 2,000 square metres. Nataliia Sudnyk, the owner of an antique bookstore, said rare pre-revolutionary and Ukrainian editions, including some believed to exist in single copies, were destroyed. Firefighters battled the blaze while air raid sirens sounded, and crews were later seen sheltering in a subway during another attack.
