Al Jazeera’s Jessica Washington joins live from Labuan Bajo, in Indonesia’s East Nusa Tenggara province, following a powerful earthquake that damaged buildings and displaced thousands of people. She says at least 5,000 people are currently staying in emergency shelters, with authorities prioritising access to food, clean water, medicine, tents and other essentials. Washington reports that search and rescue teams and emergency supplies have been deployed, while authorities have declared a two-week emergency status to improve coordination and ensure aid reaches affected communities.
