North Korea is in a stronger place globally than it was during the first Trump presidency, says Rachel Lee. Kim Jong Un "has a strong relationship with Russia. The Chinese want to court him, and now you have President Trump reaching out to him constantly, so he must think that he has a lot of leverage," Lee said. "He's in the best possible place that he can be in right now." Lee, a senior fellow for the Stimson Center's 38 North project, joined Nick Schifrin for the latest episode of Compass Points about North Korea's relationship with the United States. Compass Points from PBS News analyzes prominent international affairs topics and America’s role in a shifting world, breaking down global conflicts, rising tensions, and their implications for U.S. interests.
