Australian Foreign Minister Penny Wong faced intense questioning from Senator James Peterson over whether passports were issued, refused, or cancelled for Australian women linked to ISIS who were held in Syrian camps. Wong maintained that passports are governed by standard legal entitlements for Australian citizens unless security agencies formally request cancellation under the Passports Act. The government also insisted it did not actively assist or fund the repatriation of the women and children, while Prime Minister Anthony Albanese and Home Affairs Minister Tony Burke stressed that returning individuals remained subject to law enforcement scrutiny. The heated Senate clash has reignited debate over national security, passport powers, and the government's handling of ISIS-linked returnees. #PennyWong #JamesPeterson #ISISBrides #AustraliaPolitics #AustralianPolitics #PennyWongQuestioned #JamesPetersonSenator #ISISReturnees #ISISBridesAustralia #AustralianSenate #PennyWongISIS #Aus
