Shocking new figures reveal that 27 children aged five and under were referred to the UK’s Forced Marriage Unit between 2021 and 2025. Even more concerning, at least 100 children aged 12 or under were referred during the same period. The figures, obtained through a Freedom of Information request, have been described as “deeply disturbing” by campaigners. Robert Bates, Research Director at the Centre for Migration Control, joins Duncan Barkes to discuss the figures and what they reveal about cultural practices, enforcement and the authorities’ willingness to challenge them.
