Lionel Messi has announced his retirement from Argentina's national team after 20 years, marking the end of an era for the country's football. The 39-year-old, once compared to Diego Maradona, silenced critics by finally winning the World Cup in Qatar in 2022, becoming a unifying figure who transcends Argentina's political and social divides. In Buenos Aires, murals and tributes celebrate his legacy, with fans praising both his talent and humility. Al Jazeera’s Teresa Bo reports from Buenos Aires, Argentina.
