Terrifying flash floods send massive debris floating through Grand Canyon #breakingnews #grandcanyon #flashflood #naturaldisaster At least two people have been confirmed dead and over a dozen remain missing after powerful flash floods sent massive debris floating through Grand Canyon National Park on Saturday, August 29, 2026. The sudden deluge struck Bright Angel Canyon around 2:30 PM, unleashing a violent wall of chocolate-brown water that tore down trail corridors and shattered footbridges. Stunning video captured by hiker Gabriel Bergemann shows the rapid progression of the floodwaters carrying heavy logs and structural debris through the canyon as emergency helicopter airlifts worked to evacuate stranded visitors. National Park Service search and recovery teams have recovered one body and are retrieving a second, while key areas including Phantom Ranch, Bright Angel Campground, and the entire North Kaibab Trail remain closed indefinitely.
