“At the end of the day, it’s child abuse.” Martin Gower condemns suspected forced-marriage cases involving young children as child abuse, arguing that British law must take precedence over cultural sensitivities. Government figures show that 100 children aged 12 and under were referred to the Forced Marriage Unit between 2021 and 2025, including 27 aged five and under.
